Justification

 

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages defines the aims, objectives and functions of the proposed overall language policy of the Council of Europe and in particular the promotion of plurilingualism in response to European linguistic and cultural diversity. The linguistic and cultural preparation of language and other teachers is an essential and unavoidable part of this process of European convergence.

 

Aims

 

These courses are intended to provide teachers of English and other teachers with an opportunity to maintain or improve their conversational and other language skills in English Language.

 

Addressees

 

Teachers of English in Infant, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education School levels. GROUPS D/D1 and E/E1 are open to all teachers who have completed NIVEL III, AULAS EUROPEAS (or equivalent level).

 

 Selection Criteria

 

Be a teacher of English in an Infant, Primary, Secondary or Adult Education School / for groups D/D1 and  E/E1 have completed LEVEL III, Aulas EUROPEAS (or equivalent level).

 

Methodology and evaluation

 

The emphasis will be on the acquisition of oral skills. The course teacher / tutor will propose activities to take over in class and the participants will carry them out. Participants are required to actively participate in the development of class activities.

Process evaluation will be carried out when required to evaluate activities and teacher and participants involvement in the course.

In the last session of the course both teacher and participants will evaluate the activity as a whole and will propose ideas and improvement for future courses.

From Thursday, 11th October, 2007 until Thursday, 24th January, 2008 and

from Wednesday 6th February, 2008 until 22nd May, 2008.
